"You brought your family here?"
"I did. Wanted to take them as far away from the fighting as I could. A place where the war will never find us. The farthest-flung nowhere rock I could find on a star map."
―Ergel and Corwin Ballast — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]

The daughter of the civilian Corwin Ballast and his wife, Lynnta, resided in the city of Maborn on the world Mordal during the Galactic Civil War. In 4 ABY, the daughter became immobilized during a firefight between rebels and Imperial forces in Maborn, and their parents' rescue efforts proved unsuccessful. After Lynnta and his daughter's deaths, a grieving Ballast traveled to the Inner Rim planet Jakku with a picture of his family in his boot to remember them.

Biography[]

Jakku-PoeDameronFlightLog

After his daughter's death, Corwin Ballast traveled to the desolate world of Jakku to grieve.

A daughter was born to the civilian Corwin Ballast and his wife, Lynnta, by the time of the Galactic Civil War. Their parents settled with their child on the world Mordal in the city of Maborn.[1] In 4 ABY,[2] the daughter became immobilized during a firefight between rebels and Imperial forces in Maborn. Their parents attempted to rescue them from the area of contention but were downed by blaster fire before they could reach them. Ballast recovered from his injuries and woke several weeks after the skirmish to find that his daughter and wife had died and been buried.[1]

Grieved, Ballast kept his family's picture in his boot to remember them. He left Mordal to travel to[1] the Inner Rim world[3] Jakku, a location he considered desolate enough for war to never reach. In the drinking establishment Ergel's Bar on Jakku, Ballast explained to the bartender Ergel that he had come to the bleak world for his family's sake because it was far from the fighting. Though the man briefly relived the memory of his daughter and wife's deaths in his mind, he broke away from the recollection to continue conversing with Ergel.[1]
