- "Dathomir is a dangerous world inhabited by a number of deadly creatures, such as the chirodactyl, an apex predator."
- ―Darth Sidious
Chirodactyls,[1] also known as Dathomirian bats,[2] were a species of winged carnivorous creatures native to the planet Dathomir. One chirodactyl known as Gorgara was especially notorious among the natives of the planet.[1] The strongest Nightbrothers were tested in a rite of passage that consisted of venturing into these creatures' territory.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
Chirodactyls first appeared in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, developed by Respawn Entertainment.[2] During development, inspiration for the design of the chirodactyls was found in bats and owls. Chirodactyl concept art was done by artist Jean-Francois Rey.[5]
