"Grathan's trouble, see. Big trouble. Mad scientist type. Likes weapons. Cyborgs. Droids. Ergonomic chairs."
―Bryn, to an Imperial individual[3]

Bryn was a Human male captain who served in the Special Forces of the reconstituted Sith Empire. During the Cold War, around 3643 BBY, he was stationed on the Sith capital planet of Dromund Kaas, where he performed reconnaissance on Lord Grathan, a rogue Sith Lord who had declared himself the thirteenth member of the Dark Council.

Biography[]

"Those turret schematics are going to revolutionize Imperial weaponry. We need them. Fast."
―Bryn[3]

Bryn held the rank of captain within Imperial Special Forces during the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. At one point during his career,[3] around 3643 BBY,[4] he was stationed on a bridge on the Sith capital planet of Dromund Kaas between the Wall and the estate of rogue Sith Lord Grathan,[1] the self-proclaimed thirteenth Dark Council member.[5] At this position, he was tasked with keeping watch on Grathan while maintaining his distance. As part of his orders, he was to retrieve the plans for a prototype turret that his superiors wanted to mass-produce, but his orders also specified that he could not enter Grathan's territory. He requested the aid of a passing individual affiliated with the Sith Empire to retrieve the plans.[3]

PrototypeTurret-SWTOR

Bryn was tasked with retrieving the plans for a prototype turret.

The Imperial individual successfully infiltrated Grathan's compound, retrieving a security badge from a member of Lord Grathan's forces in order to pass by its automated defenses. The individual broke into Grathan's weapons lab and downloaded the plans from the databanks of the droid PO-12, much to its chagrin; it wanted to destroy the schematics and ensure no more turrets could be built. Upon the individual's return, Bryn displayed an eagerness to test the efficacy of the turrets on Republic personnel.[3]

After the individual's mission, Bryn remained posted on the bridge, continuing to keep watch over Grathan's estate.[1]

Personality and traits[]

"Shh. Can't be seen. Can't be heard. Sensitive business, this. Dangerous man, Lord Grathan."
―Bryn[1]

Bryn was a Human[1] male[2] with light skin, brown hair, blue eyes, and a short mustache. His right cheek was lightly scarred by the time of the Cold War.[1] Bryn held the orders he received highly, forcing him to ask for assistance in retrieving plans from Grathan's estate.[3] The captain considered the details of his operations to be sensitive and Grathan to be a dangerous individual.[1]

Equipment[]

Bryn wore a gray Imperial Military uniform with a bandolier. He wielded a blaster pistol.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

"I'm extremely disappointed. Extremely. Because now I have to report back that my mission was a failure—and it's your fault!"
―Bryn, if the player chooses to let PO-12 destroy the plans[3]

Bryn first appeared in the 2011 BioWare online video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic.[1] He acts as a non-player character who can give the "Strange Weapons" exploration mission to Imperial players on Dromund Kaas. Players have two options during the quest: they can download the turret plans for dark alignment points or remove PO-12's restraining bolt to allow the droid to delete the plans for light alignment points. If the player retrieves the plans, Bryn expresses an eagerness to take the plans to his superiors. If the plans are destroyed, Bryn instead reacts with anger, stating that he will need to attempt to save his job.[3] This article assumes that the player chose the dark-side option.

SWTOR mini STAR WARS: The Old Republic - Question ! :) - Page 3 on The Old Republic's official website (backup link) places Star Wars: The Old Republic about ten to twelve years after the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, which is dated to 3653 BBY by Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia. The Old Republic—The Lost Suns 2 takes place ten years after the treaty, one week after the mission to Nar Shaddaa, and around the time of the SpecForce Incident. Since the mission and the incident are respectively part of Act I of the Jedi Knight and Republic Trooper's storylines, and the Trooper's Act I occurs concurrent to Act I of the Smuggler storyline, the general events of the Prologue and Act I for all classes can be assumed to occur in 3643 BBY.
