"I don't want you hanging around here."
"You want me hanging around here."
"I want you hanging around here. Wait. Why do I want you hanging around here?"
―Blaask and Yarael Poof[1]

Blaask was a Trandoshan bouncer who worked at a nightclub on Vorah Key on the planet Kwenn. In 33 BBY, the Trandoshan was at his post while the Jedi Master Yarael Poof stood near the nightclub to wait for Master Ki-Adi-Mundi to exit a nearby pub during the Jedi Council's mission on Kwenn. Poof repeatedly attempted to use the Force to persuade Blaask to ignore his presence, eventually succeeding in convincing the Trandoshan to step away to eat.

Biography[]

"You'd really like a curried nuna-roll."
"I'd really—That's too spicy."
"Ask for the children's menu. Bye now."
―Yarael Poof convinces Blaask to leave his post[1]

Yarael Poof (pictured) persuaded Blaask to leave his post after fifteen minutes of unsuccessful attempts.

The Trandoshan Blaask resided on the planet Kwenn during the Republic Era. He worked as a bouncer at a nightclub on Vorah Key, one of the Gem Cities of Kwenn, and was known by another Trandoshan who was associated with the nightclub. One night[1] in 33 BBY,[3] Blaask was stood outside the nightclub while the Jedi Master Yarael Poof, who was visiting Kwenn on a mission alongside the rest of the Jedi Council, waited nearby for fellow Master Ki-Adi-Mundi to exit Gutson's Pub across the street. The Trandoshan disapproved of Poof standing near the nightclub, with the Jedi repeatedly using the Force in an attempt to persuade Blaask into thinking otherwise.[1]

After fifteen minutes without success, Blaask once again demanded that the Jedi leave. Poof used the Force to convince the Trandoshan that he did want the Jedi around, which worked until the bouncer questioned why. The Jedi then persuaded Blaask that he did not need the answer to his question, calming the Trandoshan for a moment until he expressed confusion over what question Poof had referred to. Growing tired of dealing with Blaask, Poof once again used the Force, persuading the Trandoshan that he wanted a curried nuna-roll from a nearby eatery. Blaask was about to agree but claimed it was too spicy for him; the Jedi told him to ask for the children's menu and sent him on his way. Not long after, Blaask's fellow Trandoshan looked outside to ask after him and was vexed, but not surprised, to learn he had left his post to eat.[1]

Personality and traits[]

"Where'd Blaask go?"
"He stepped away for a bite."
"Typical."
―Another Trandoshan and Yarael Poof[1]

Blaask disliked Yarael Poof loitering near his nightclub, hissing as he demanded the Jedi Master to leave. The Jedi's use of the Force to persuade Blaask had limited success, with the Trandoshan continually questioning Poof. Although Blaask's eventual decision to leave his post was influenced by Poof, the Jedi believed that it was a choice he would likely have made regardless, suspecting that the Trandoshan had a history of doing so and that he actually was hungry. Indeed, when Blaask's fellow Trandoshan learned he had stepped away to eat, she claimed it was typical of him. Blaask had green skin and was tall and imposing, though was shorter than Poof's height[1] of 2.64 meters.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Blaask appeared in the 2024 novel The Living Force, written by John Jackson Miller.[1]
