Atale was a moon that orbited the Deep Core planet Empress Teta. It was used as a production site of the andris spice. During their mission to Empress Teta in 3997 BBY, the Jedi Knights Cay Qel-Droma and Tott Doneeta hid their starship, the Nebulon Ranger, in the shadow of the moon. Later, Qel-Droma and Doneeta piloted the Nebulon Ranger away from the moon and down to Empress Teta's surface.

Description[]

A red-colored moon,^[3] Atale^[2] orbited the planet Empress Teta,^[3] in the Empress Teta system of the Deep Core's^[1] Koros sector.^[2] Like the rest of the system, Atale was connected to the Keeara Major system by the Byss Run hyperlane^[5] and to the Jerrilek system^[7] by the hyperspace route known as the Koros Trunk Line.^[5]

In addition, in 5000 BBY, the hyperspace mappers Gav and Jori Daragon discovered a direct route, later named the Daragon Trail, linking the Empress Teta system^[8] to the planet Korriban in the Outer Rim Territories.^[9] The section of the Daragon Trail beginning at Empress Teta and running through the Deep Core eventually became part of the Carbonite Run hyperlane.^[1]

History[]

Atale was used by the Mining Guild as the main production site of the andris spice.^[2] In 3997 BBY,^[8] the Jedi Knights Nomi Sunrider, Cay Qel-Droma, and Tott Doneeta undertook a mission to extract Cay's brother, Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma, from deep cover within the Krath cult on Empress Teta. After Sunrider left the Knights' starship, the Nebulon Ranger, for Empress Teta's surface in an escape pod, Cay and Doneeta hid the ship in the shadow of Atale. Later, the pair piloted the Nebulon Ranger out of its hiding place and down to the planet's surface in order to pick up Sunrider and Ulic.^[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Atale was introduced in the fifth issue of the Dark Lords of the Sith story arc in Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi comic-book series.^[3] The issue was published on February 14, 1995,^[10] written by Tom Veitch and Kevin J. Anderson, and penciled by Chris Gossett.^[3]

The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Empress Teta system, and therefore Atale, in grid square L-10.^[5] Atale received its name in the 2016 Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars: Force and Destiny sourcebook Nexus of Power.^[2]
