"I'm not afraid."
―Luke Skywalker to his Aunt Beru[2]

The assault on the Lars Homestead[4] was an attack conducted by Reva Sevander on the Lars Homestead to kill Luke Skywalker taking place in 9 BBY.[2]

Prelude[]

Following her lost duel on Jabiim, Reva Sevander found an imagecaster containing a transmission from Senator Bail Organa. Originally intended for Obi-Wan Kenobi, Organa's transmission mentioned Luke Skywalker and his family on the Outer Rim planet of Tatooine.[1] Understanding Skywalker to be the son of Darth Vader, Reva managed to escape Jabiim and set out for the desert planet.[2]

Mortally wounded from her duel, Reva arrived on Tatooine and began asking the locals on the whereabouts of Owen Lars. Owen, having been alerted by an unnamed local, learned of Reva's pursuit and traveled to his homestead to warn Beru and Luke of the impending danger. Assuming Reva would come after the sundown, Beru and Owen armed themselves with blaster rifles, and prepared for the attack.[2]

The attack[]

By nightfall, Owen and Beru brought Luke to the garage were Lars told him Tusken Raiders were hunting again and that if anything were to go wrong to run as far as he could. While Luke exclaimed he wasn't afraid, Lars and Beru told him everything would be okay before closing him in the garage. Mere moments after, Reva arrived at the homestead, setting off the perimeter alarm and alerting Lars and Beru to her arrival. Igniting her saber as she searched the home, Reva was suddenly ambushed by Beru and Owen, and met face-to-face with the moisture farmers, who fired numerous shots at her with no success. Beru then fled to guard Luke while Owen fought off Reva at the door, managing to get two strikes on her wound before being thrown out of the way. Entering the garage, Reva was hit by Beru whilst Skywalker climbed through the tech dome to escape. Beating down Beru, Reva climbed out of the homestead and chased after Luke.[2]

Luke ran as far as he could, eventually ending up in Beggar's Canyon with Reva not far behind. As Reva chased after Skywalker, she found him running atop a ledge above her. Using the Force, she caused Luke to lose his balance, making him tumble down the side of the ledge, falling unconscious as he did. Reva then walked up to the boy, igniting her saber intent on killing him as a means of revenge on Vader. She raised her blade in the air, but was hesitant to strike as she began seeing herself as a Jedi Youngling in Luke's place. After a few seconds of hesitation, Reva couldn't bring herself to kill Skywalker.[2]

Aftermath[]

Reve returned to the Lars Homestead from the canyon carrying a still unconscious Luke in her arms. She fell to her knees in front of a distressed Owen and Beru. Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi had also arrived on Tatooine after confronting Darth Vader on a barren moon. She placed Luke on the sand before he was promptly picked up by Owen and the family retreated back to their homestead. She began to weep, exclaiming she had failed her youngling comrades who had been killed during the siege of the Jedi Temple by Vader, Kenobi consoled Reva, telling her she hadn't failed, but rather by sparing Luke's life, she had honored them. He told her that who she decided to become now was her choice, to which Reva responded by removing her lightsaber and placing it in the sand. Kenobi then helped her to her feet, telling her that they both were now free.[2]
