The Archive of Forbidden Artifacts was a Bogan Collection, a hidden vault of prohibited objects associated with the dark side of the Force, that lay within the archives of the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant. Despite being accessible only by specific members of the Jedi Order, several Jedi, including Klias Teradine, Lene Kostana, Yula Braylon, Dooku, and Sifo-Dyas, had broken into the vault. After the fall of the Galactic Republic in 19 BBY, the Sith Lord Darth Sidious inherited the Bogan Collection.

The Archive of Forbidden Artifacts was a Bogan Collection, a hidden vault located in the Jedi Archives of the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant,^[1] accessible only by specific members of the Jedi Order.^[3] Kaneer's window, a fake window that served as a door, hid a corridor which contained several spinner-webs and led to the vault. Inside the Bogan Collection were several cabinets that contained artifacts connected to the dark side of the Force, including the Saber of Darth Krall, scrolls,^[1] the mask of the Sith Lord Darth Momin, diverse lightsabers,^[2] a parang, and other artifacts relating to the Sorcerers of Tund and the Yacombe. Some of the relics were suspended on repulsor pads, while others were kept behind glass or protected by force fields.^[1] "Bogan" was another name for the dark side of the Force.^[4]

History[]

During the High Republic Era, the Jedi Padawan Klias Teradine entered the Archive of Forbidden Artifacts and documented what he saw in his holojournal.^[1] Though Teradine died in 241 BBY on Mount Bikja,^[5] he was subsequently believed by many Jedi to have been expelled from the Jedi Order.^[1] In 232 BBY,^[6] Jedi Master Cohmac Vitus and Jedi Knight Orla Jareni brought a set of arcane statues that caused a disturbance in the Force back to Coruscant to store them in the Bogan Collection.^[2] However, the statues were discovered to have been restraining a dark side presence instead of containing one during a cleansing ritual in the Shrine in the Depths, leading Vitus, Jareni, and Padawan Reath Silas to covertly attempt to return them to the Amaxine Space Station where they had been found.^[7] Sometime later, when they were Jedi Initiates, Yula Braylon and Lene Kostana broke into the Bogan Collection through Kaneer's window, but were eventually discovered by Jedi Grand Master Yoda. As punishment, Yoda forced them to translate the Lothal Papyri, a series of agricultural treatises.^[1]

A while later,^[1] in 88 BBY,^[6] Jedi Initiates Dooku and Sifo-Dyas snuck into the vault using the Shifting Sand Force power to open Kaneer's window and saw several artifacts. Dooku's attention was captured by a piece of metal, and he soon started to hear the growl of the Tirra'Taka, a creature that, according to a legend, held the planet Serenno together. Dooku had a vision of the beast and, to protect himself, Force pushed everything around him, including the cabinets and Sifo-Dyas. Shortly afterward, the two Initiates were rescued by Jedi librarian Restelly Quist, who brought them to the Temple infirmary, where they were healed and questioned by Yoda and Braylon. Braylon informed Kostana that, because of Dooku, many artifacts were ruined and needed to be incinerated. Dooku and Sifo-Dyas also received the translation of the Lothal Papyri as punishment for their actions. Dooku later recounted the incident to his sister Jenza via holo-letter.^[1]

Around 23 BBY,^[8] Dooku gave data disks of his conversations with Jenza to his recently recruited Sith assassin—Asajj Ventress—for her investigation into Jenza's location, and she listened to the message mentioning the Bogan Collection.^[1] After the fall of the Galactic Republic^[2] in 19 BBY,^[6] the Emperor of the Galactic Empire and Master of the Sith Order, Darth Sidious, inherited the Archive of Forbidden Artifacts^[2] and turned the Jedi Temple into the Imperial Palace.^[9] The Sith Lord later gifted his apprentice, Darth Vader, with the mask of Darth Momin.^[2]

The Archive of Forbidden Artifacts first appeared in a flashback sequence in the audio drama Dooku: Jedi Lost, written by Cavan Scott and published in 2019.^[1]
