The Ando system was located in the Lambda sector, a part of the regions known as the Mid Rim[3] and the Slice.[2] It lay in grid square Q-15 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and contained the planet Ando,[3] the aquatic homeworld of the Aqualish species.[4] The Ando system was connected via hyperspace route to the astronomical objects Mon Gazza and Leritor.[5]

During the Separatist Crisis, a period of turmoil occurred on Ando that staggered the rest of the galaxy.[6] As a result, the Ando system seceded from the Galactic Republic to the Confederacy of Independent Systems through the influence of Aqualish Senator Po Nudo, who had represented Ando in the Galactic Senate as its Junior Delegate during the secessionist movement and the subsequent Clone Wars between the Republic and Confederacy.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

The Ando system was introduced in the new Star Wars canon on a galactic map included with the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a roleplaying game produced by Fantasy Flight Games and released in 2016.[5] The system later received its name in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[3]

The system was first mentioned in the Star Wars Legends continuity in The Last Command, a 1993 novel written by Timothy Zahn as the final volume of Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy.[7] In 1994, the Ando system made its first appearance in "Courier's Deal," a short companion narrative published in West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Creatures of the Galaxy.[8]
