Allium was an alien professor. In 34 ABY, he was in the castle of the pirate Maz Kanata conversing with other patrons when the smuggler Han Solo arrived. Allium and the castle's other clientele then gathered outside to witness the destruction of Hosnian Prime by the First Order's Starkiller Base superweapon. The First Order proceeded to attack the castle and destroyed it.

Biography[]

In 34 ABY,^[4] Professor Allium^[2] spent time in the castle bar of the pirate Maz Kanata on the planet Takodana.^[5] He stood directly in front of the castle's entrance speaking to a seated human woman when the smuggler Han Solo entered with the scavenger Rey, the astromech droid BB-8, and the First Order defector Finn. Kanata noticed her old friend Solo's arrival and shouted for him across the bar, silencing the other patrons and causing Allium to turn and stare at the smuggler. As the bar patrons lost interest in Solo, Allium moved to an alcove table to the left of the door and began speaking to its occupants.^[3]

Allium later stood at the base of one of the castle's stairwells conversing with another human while Finn left the castle^[3] with the pirates Sidon Ithano and Quiggold,^[5] but he soon finished the conversation and moved away back toward the bar. Soon after, the patrons of the castle were drawn outside to witness the destruction of the Hosnian system by the First Order's Starkiller Base superweapon, and Allium stood in the castle's doorway next to^[3] the cook Strono Tuggs^[5] while staring up at the sky. The First Order then attacked and destroyed the castle itself, before being forced to retreat by the arrival of the Resistance.^[3]

Allium stood 1.9 meters tall^[2] and was an alien with green skin, white hair, and green eyes.^[3]

Equipment[]

Allium wore a high-collared black robe while in Maz Kanata's castle.^[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Allium was portrayed by Robert Nairne^[6] in the 2015 sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.^[3] Concept art of Allium, titled "Castle Alien CO78," was created during the film's pre-production in February 2014.^[1] The character went unnamed until the release of the reference book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know, Updated and Expanded in 2017.^[2]
