"She insisted you would find it amusing, Your Highness."
―Agira speaks to Breha Organa after the Queen discovers the handmaiden's ruse — (audio) Listen (file info)[3]

Agira was an Imroosian female from the planet Imroosia who served as a handmaiden of the House of Organa on the planet Alderaan. In 9 BBY, Princess Leia Organa convinced Agira to wear her clothing as a disguise, claiming that Queen Breha Organa would find it amusing. When the queen came to collect Leia in the Royal Palace of Alderaan, she was initially fooled by Agira's disguise but ultimately saw through the ruse when she felt the scales on the Imroosian's hands.

Biography[]

"She's ready? Great."
―Queen Breha Organa is fooled by Agira's disguise — (audio) Listen (file info)[3]

Agira was an[3] Imroosian[2] female[3] from the volcanic planet Imroosia[1] who served the House of Organa,[3] the royal house of the planet Alderaan,[4] as a handmaiden.[3] In 9 BBY,[5] Princess Leia Organa persuaded Agira and three other handmaidens that her mother, Queen Breha Organa, would find it amusing if Agira was disguised as Leia[3] and acted as her decoy. The idea was inspired by the Royal House of Naboo,[2] a planet where Royal Handmaidens acted as decoys for the monarch.[4] The other handmaidens then dressed Agira in the princess's clothing in one of the rooms of the Royal Palace of Alderaan,[3] with a large hood concealing her face.[2]

Agira's disguise as Princess Leia Organa fooled Queen Breha Organa.

The queen then entered the room and, believing that the handmaiden was her daughter, began briefing Agira on an upcoming meeting with Breha's sister, Celly Organa, and her family. The queen took Agira's hand and began leading her toward the door, but she stopped when she felt the scales on the Imroosian's hands. Breha pulled back the hood concealing Agira's smiling face, after which the handmaiden revealed that Leia had come up with the ruse. The queen then left to find her daughter, who had snuck out to go shipspotting in the nearby forest.[3]

Personality and traits[]

Agira was a loyal handmaiden and a friend of Organa.[2] She had scaled white skin, brown eyes, and brown hair,[3] which was intricately braided as part of her disguise.[6]

Equipment[]

While disguised as Organa, Agira wore a white blouse, pink pants,[3] a pair of brocaded velvet shoes,[6] and an embroidered pink tunic and matching hooded scarf.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

"I'm so thrilled to have been a part of Obi-Wan Kenobi and to play Handmaiden Agira in episode one. Thank you Deborah Chow, JoJo Eusebio and team for welcoming me into the Star Wars Family.! Thank you @makeup_man & Scott for the incredible transformation and good company while I sat in your chair a few hours."
―Molly Miller on Instagram[7]

Agira was portrayed by Molly Miller in the first episode of the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series,[3] which aired on May 27, 2022.[8] Agira's name is not spoken in the episode but appears in the credits.[3] The character's makeup was done by Gabriel De Cunto and Scott Wheeler and took several hours to apply.[3][7] Miller also served as a stunt double for young Leia Organa in the series, effectively making her Organa's double in two ways.[3]

Emily Shkoukani wrote the page covering Agira in the 2023 reference book Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide and included the idea of Organa being inspired by the royals of Naboo and having Handmaidens based on the fact that the character was established to have been raised learning the heritage of her birth mother,[9] Queen Padmé Amidala.[4]
