"Wrecker woke the pod, didn't he?"
"Yeah, and they're not happy. We need a pickup."
―Tech and Hunter[1]

Aggrocrab was a species that lived in the jungle, beaches, and waters of the tropical planet Aynaboni. They had a blaster-resistant shell covered in spikes and large pincers. Many of them were encountered by Clone Force 99 during a mission to acquire a large crate.

Biology and appearance[]

The crabs had large pincers that they used to protect their underside.

The non-sentient species[1] of giant crabs inhabited the jungle,[2] beaches, and nearby waters of an island on[1] Aynaboni.[3] The crabs had a red and orange[1] shell[2] covered in blue, triangular spikes and large, purple pincers edged with similar spikes, two eyes, two antenna, six legs, and a mouth consisting of three flaps. The crabs had green blood. They could be killed by being shot in the underside with a Zygerrian energy bow. The crabs' shell and pincers could resist blaster fire, so the crabs would cover their underside with their pincers. They were capable of damaging the[1] modified Omicron-class attack shuttle,[4] the Marauder.[1]

Behavior[]

The crabs slept in a pod and would collectively chase anyone who woke them. They could be very aggressive and would often roar.[1]

History[]

"I thought the beach was gonna be relaxing."

Between 19 BBY and 18 BBY,[5] Clone Force 99 members "Hunter," "Wrecker," and "Echo" acquired a large crate from the jungle during a heist. However, a large pod of[1] Aggrocrabs[6] was awoken by Wrecker. Six of the crabs then chased the clones to the beach while snapping their pincers. While Hunter blasted a crab, he requested firepower and a pickup from "Tech" in the Marauder. Meanwhile, three crabs landed on the ship and attacked it with their pincers, and another crab grabbed the ship's[1] fishing line.[2] Omega, the groups's youngest member, jumped off two crabs and shot the crabs off the Marauder with her energy bow before shooting the crabs on the ground. While running to the ship, Omega shot a crab and jumped off its shell to reach the fishing line, and she continued shooting the crabs. The Marauder arrived at Hunter, Wrecker, and Echo's location and blasted the crabs while Omega provided cover fire. The three clones kept shooting the crabs while being pulled onto the ship via the fishing line. The Marauder then flew away from the island.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The crab creatures were first pictured in the first trailer for the second season of the Star Wars: The Bad Batch animated series, released on May 29, 2022.[7] They first appeared in "Spoils of War," the first episode of the season,[1] which aired on January 4, 2023.[8]

  5. Per the reasoning here, the seventh and eighth episodes of The Bad Batch Season 2, "The Clone Conspiracy" and "Truth and Consequences," can be placed in 18 BBY. Therefore, all Season 2 episodes proceeding "The Clone Conspiracy" occur between 19 BBY, which features the end of The Bad Batch Season 1 according to Star Wars: Timelines, and 18 BBY. The Galactic Empire, the formation of which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 19 BBY, sent Mayday's squad to Barton IV over a year prior to the events of the twelfth episode, "The Outpost." As it occurs over a year into the Imperial Era and is set shortly after the events of "Truth and Consequences," the events of "The Outpost" occur around 18 BBY. Following that logic, the ninth through eleventh episodes ("The Crossing" through "Metamorphosis") are also set around 18 BBY because they occur between the events of "Truth and Consequences" and "The Outpost." Finally, all season 2 episodes set after "The Outpost" occur shortly after its events, thereby placing those episodes around 18 BBY as well.
