Tremble lizard

A tremble lizard

The tremble lizard was a small bipedal bird-like reptile native to Persioff IX. Their skin was "drenched" in a neurotoxin that, if touched, caused one's eyes to shoot out of one's head. Their blood was a corrosive acid, which the reptiles could also spit as an attack. They were highly aggressive predators that fed on invertebrates.

The tremble lizards were studied by Federation outpost scientists, one of whom described them as "the most fascinating creature" on the planet. The scientists used antivenom suits to protect themselves. In 2381, a tremble lizard disabled a section of the force field fence around the outpost by biting a loose wire, causing more of its kind to rush the outpost. Lieutenant jg Beckett Mariner – who was in the middle of a self-destructive tantrum caused by a recent promotion from Ensign aggravating untreated survivor guilt – ventured outside without donning an antivenom suit and proceeded to use herself as bait to lure them away, single-handedly fending them off while repairing the barrier. However, one of the lizards made its way inside by clinging undetected to her back, and attacked the lead scientist before being contained. (LD: "The Inner Fight")
