Persioff IX was the ninth planet in its star system. Its surface terrain was characterized by numerous jagged pinnacles of rock. In the late 24th century, it was the site of a Federation outpost dedicated to studying the native venomous tremble lizards.
In 2381, an away team from the USS Cerritos was assigned to install a new power relay at the outpost that maintained its force field fence. During the mission, a tremble lizard disabled a section of the fence by biting an exposed wire, causing more of its kind to invade the outpost grounds. Lieutenant jg Beckett Mariner single-handedly lured the lizards away from the outpost and repaired the fence, though one of the lizards managed to enter the outpost and attack the lead scientist.
