The Shangdi system was a star system, centered on the red supergiant star Shangdi.
In 2259, the USS Stardiver was conducting solar research in the Shangdi system. Just after observing a series of coronal mass ejections from Shangdi, the ship was attacked by the Gorn. Only one crew member, Lieutenant jg Montgomery Scott, managed to escape to Parnassus Beta in the neighboring star system. (SNW: "Hegemony")
