Maat Al-Salah bio

Al-Salah's database entry (2259)

By the age of nine, Maat had attended science camp at the Zephram Cochrane Science Institute, where he had an emphasis on inter-spatial mechanics and was voted "most likely to cure the common cold". He had also received a second place award in the sector for implementing a matter synthesizer analyzing protocol that increased efficiency by fourteen percent. In addition, he was co-captain of the intramural water polo team, a mock-trial advocate for the Junior Judicial Association, and had been selected for the science and technology pre-training program in the disciplines of computer theory and applied applications.

Maat's dream was to join Starfleet; he was a great fan of Captain Christopher Pike and owned a model of the USS Enterprise. When the Enterprise stopped by Outpost 4 in 2259, Maat took the opportunity to join a meeting between his father, Pike, Lieutenant Commander Una Chin-Riley, and Lieutenant Spock. However, Pike abruptly made excuses and departed, because two years earlier he had learned from a time crystal on Boreth that Maat would be one of two Starfleet Academy cadets fated to die in an accident on a class J training ship in 2266.

Afterward, Pike contemplated changing the timeline by sending Maat a message warning him of the future, but was dissuaded from doing so by an older version of himself from an alternate timeline in which avoiding the accident led to disastrous consequences. Events therefore played out as was foretold, and Maat perished in 2266. (SNW: "A Quality of Mercy")

Maat Al-Salah was played by Chris River.
