Arex playing a double guitar
A double guitar was a form of stringed musical instrument similar to a lute.
While under the euphoric effects of Harry Mudd's love potion crystals, Lieutenant Arex sat at his station on the bridge of the USS Enterprise, and played a double guitar instead of attending his duties. (TAS: "Mudd's Passion")
According to an account that was anything but canon, Arex played the double guitar in a Post Mainframe Acid-Cardassian Ten Forwardcore band on the bridge of the USS Enterprise along with William T. Riker on the trombone, Hikaru Sulu on the keyboard, M'Ress on the tambourine, D'Vana Tendi on backup vocals and Scotty on the drums. (VST: "Walk, Don't Run")
The name for this type of instrument comes from the final draft script of "Mudd's Passion".
