Lieutenant Dirk was a male Human Starfleet officer who lived during the mid-24th century. He served in the command division aboard the USS Cerritos under Captain Carol Freeman.

Starfleet career[]

In 2380, he was assigned to the shuttlebay, where he checked in the new transfers, including Ensign D'Vana Tendi, following her arrival aboard the Yosemite. When Tendi introduced herself as she checked in, Dirk interrupted her, instructing her to go to "Deck Four. Follow the yellow line. Take the turbolift all the way down." Tendi continued to attempt to talk to him, he again interrupted her, stating, "Keep it moving, lower decks. Next!"

A short time later, he was sitting in the bar with an operations ensign when the rage virus outbreak began. He was soon a victim of a bite from an operations lieutenant, and himself, jumped from the bartop to attack a command officer as he attempted to escape. He was later in one of the ship's corridors when Doctor T'Ana released the cure, in gas form, through the ship's ventilation system. (LD: "Second Contact")

During a later mission, Dirk emerged into the corridor along with the alien ensign after the Cerritos, which was nearly terraformed by an ancient generation ship's terraforming emulsion, was flooded with parizene gas. (LD: "Moist Vessel")

He was again in the shuttlebay, checking in the new transfers when Ensign Peanut Hamper arrived. (LD: "No Small Parts")

Dirk later participated in the training drills presented by Shari yn Yem in 2381. When the senior officers – namely: Captain Freeman, Commander Jack Ransom, Lieutenant Shaxs, and Dr. T'Ana – were sent to the lower decks, this officer immediately stepped up with his PADD and informed them, "all right, Deck 12, follow the yellow line. Move it along, lower decks." (LD: "I, Excretus")

Ballroom dancers

Judging a ballroom dance competition

In 2380, Dirk served as one of two judges for a ballroom dance competition when it was interrupted and postponed by Captain Freeman. (LD: "First First Contact")

He stood outside the ship's bar and prevented Ensigns Tendi, Beckett Mariner, Sam Rutherford, and Brad Boimler from entering, noting that was now designated as the "commander's lounge", and only interviewees who made "the list" were allowed inside. Later, he glared at Mariner in the ship's corridor as Mariner returned to the ld sleeping quarters after she had been unjustly transferred to Starbase 80. (LD: "Trusted Sources")

While the Cerritos orbited the ring world Corazonia, Dirk initiated a hazing ritual on the recently promoted Lieutenants jg Mariner, Rutherford, and Tendi by forcing them to hunt down a broken isolinear chip by hand in a room where nitrogen coolant gas was released every hour while Lieutenant Commander Andy Billups' pet ferret, Lancelot, roamed inside. When they tried to prank him in retaliation, he told them that he actually suffered from problems caused by being trapped in a chula board as a child, which was actually a lie to tug on their heartstrings. He also sent various jazz albums to Mariner via her PADD, which, much to her annoyance, she grew to like. (LD: "In the Cradle of Vexilon")
