Corazonia was an ancient Dyson ring located in a bespoke star system. It was designed by an advanced alien species that evolved into fifth-dimensional energy beings some six million years ago. The megastructure subsequently became inhabited by the humanoid Corazonians, who were members of the Federation.

The internal environment of Corazonia was controlled by Vexilon, a sentient computer. He was responsible for the ring's weather, geography, and day-night cycle. Vexilon ensured that the Corazonians lived in perpetually ideal conditions, and they shared a deep bond with him. The climate of the ring included monsoon seasons. One of the landforms on the interior surface was Inspiration Peak.

During first contact with the Corazonians, the Federation installed a power relay in the ring.

Much later in 2381, the Corazonians requested Starfleet assistance as Vexilon's performance had been degrading, leading to unpredictable weather and geographical anomalies. The USS Cerritos, already tasked with retrofitting the power relay on Corazonia, responded. Captain Carol Freeman discovered that Vexilon's operating system had not been updated since his creators vanished. However, after she initiated the update, Vexilon suffered a malfunction that caused massive meteorological upheaval throughout the ring.

While attempting to activate safe mode, Freeman inadvertently triggered a full reboot of the system. As a result, Vexilon began regenesis: creating fjords and volcanoes, distributing miasma, and stirring primordial ooze to return the ring to its default settings. Before he could disperse anaerobic bacteria, which would have had dire consequences, Freeman determined that Vexilon could force a restart if primary power were rerouted to the power relay. This allowed Vexilon to complete the update and restore normal operation, though the relay was destroyed. Freeman estimated that he would continue to function without issue for over a thousand years more. (LD: "In the Cradle of Vexilon")
