Bjayzl

Bjayzl was a criminal businesswoman who was based on Freecloud in the late 24th century. Throughout the late 2380s and 2390s, Bjayzl became known for brutalizing former Borg drones, extracting their implants, and selling them on the black market. She was wanted by the Fenris Rangers for these practices.

Around 2386, Bjayzl infiltrated the Fenris Rangers in an attempt to get close to Seven of Nine. It was from Seven that Bjayzl learned of Icheb and his whereabouts, and set up an ambush to capture him while he was investigating a falsified distress signal. At a lab within the Seven Domes on Vergessen, she employed surgeons who removed Icheb's Borg implants – without killing him beforehand, or even providing anesthetics to make the process less painful. By the time Seven found Icheb, he was mortally wounded and in such horrific pain that she was forced to euthanize him.

Bjayzl loaned cyberneticist Bruce Maddox a substantial sum for a new laboratory. In 2399, Dr. Maddox returned to Bjayzl empty-handed after his lab was destroyed by the Tal Shiar. Bjayzl at first ordered his death, but then reconsidered and subdued him with drugged tranya, intending to sell him to the Tal Shiar.

Two weeks later, Jean-Luc Picard disguised himself as a trader and, with the help of Cristóbal Rios, Elnor, and Seven of Nine, attempted a ruse to trade Seven for Maddox. The plan went awry as Seven revealed her true intentions: she wanted to kill Bjayzl in retribution for Icheb's death, whom Seven described as "the closest thing I will ever have to kin." Picard and Rios seemingly managed to talk Seven out of murdering Bjayzl, allowing the team to beam back aboard La Sirena. Moments later, however, Seven beamed back with two type 3 phaser rifles, and vaporized Bjayzl anyway. (PIC: "Stardust City Rag")
