The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is an American web television miniseries, produced by Marvel Studios. It was greenlit by Disney+, and will be their second miniseries set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame. By the end of the last episode, the name of the series had been modified to Captain America and The Winter Soldier.
The series has rekindled interest in continuing the Captain America film series, with a fourth installment planned to be penned by Malcolm Spellman, the creator of the series and head writer of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.[1]
Main characters[]
- Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier): Barnes was presumed deceased in Captain America: The First Avenger, only to be revealed alive and brainwashed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Rogers fought to defend Barnes when he was incriminated in the death of T'Chaka in Captain America: Civil War, which led to them becoming fugitives. Barnes's brainwashing was removed between Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
- Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson (Falcon/Captain America): At the end of Endgame, Wilson was handed the shield of Captain America by his friend and partner Steve Rogers. He didn't accept the mantle of Captain America, so this is his story on whether or not to take on the role and how the U.S. government reacts to that.
- Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter: A former S.H.I.E.L.D. operative known as Agent 13, who's been on the run since Civil War.
- Wyatt Russell as John Walker (Captain America/U.S. Agent): The U.S. government's chosen successor to Steve Rogers.
- Erin Kellyman as Karli Morgenthau: Leader of the Flag Smashers, who's mission is to restore the planet to what it was like during the Blip.
- Don Cheadle as James Rhodes: A colonel in the United States Air Force, who also dons the War Machine armor and was Sam's partner in the Avengers.
- Florence Kasumba as Ayo: A member of the Dora Milaje sent to bring Baron Zemo back to Wakanda for orchestrating the death of King T'Chaka.
- Danny Ramirez as Lieutenant Joaquin Torres: Wilson's partner.
- Georges St-Pierre as Georges Batroc: A French-Algerian mercenary and pirate who last appeared in The Winter Soldier.
- Adepero Oduye as Sarah Wilson: Sam's sister who runs the family business.
- Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo: A Sokovian terrorist who manipulated the Avengers to break up in Civil War. Zemo was intended to reappear again, so this miniseries fulfills that.
- Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine: A mysterious woman who recruits John Walker into her cause.
