Introducing my new monthly series: John’s #AICorner. With the influx of news and developments in AI every day, I’m starting this series to help people understand the biggest and most pressing announcements in this space, as well as the business implications for those in tech and beyond.   For this inaugural post, here are three recent updates in AI that have caught my attention: 1) Apple has entered the AI game with its new Apple Intelligence software as the next Big Tech company to create its own AI product. This news comes just as NVIDIA became the largest U.S. public company last week, passing Apple as #2 a few weeks ago. This development shows that organizations are recognizing how vital AI solutions are to driving business growth, for large enterprises and #startups alike. See more in NBC Newshttps://lnkd.in/gPEawiwM 2) Major tech companies are banding together to create next-gen AI chip components. The UALink Promoter Group – consisting of Intel, Google, Microsoft, Meta, and more – is developing an open industry standard for a more competitive AI hardware ecosystem. This could be a crucial next step in making AI technology more accessible and affordable, speeding up its implementation across industries. Read about it in TechCrunchhttps://lnkd.in/gRteYGUA 3) AI agents, the next evolution of AI chatbots, are a new priority within tech investors’ interests. As valuations for startups specializing in AI agents rise, investors’ heads are turning towards these companies – even when VC funding is slow. This trend is in-line with my thinking that startups with a strong AI strategy and product are dramatically more attractive to investors than those that lack them. Learn more in CNBChttps://lnkd.in/gWKrQ7sV     I’m looking forward to sharing these updates on a monthly basis and am excited to hear what my followers have to say about these developments. What do you think? Let me know your feedback in the comments.

John Chambers AI agents are what I’m building right now and agree it is the future of where the technology is headed. But there is a difference in AI agents and agentic AI which is more centered around the framework and system. There are a lot of companies that will hit an architectural wall in how they have built their product. This will be where AI-native companies will be able to have a competitive advantage. Not sure Apples entry is very meaningful at the moment but it is a wait and see.

Hi, John. Perhaps a salient topic for future discussion is the potential for power/electricity scarcity issues as AI infrastructure buildout rapidly expands—all sorts of economics around scarcity of resources.

John Chambers Labor and Software Are Becoming One Market, the opportunity, however, is not just about market expansion. It’s also about margin expansion. Two dominant Approaches to “AI Workforce” Companies are evolving. 1  Sell “AI Colleagues” ( devin, etc). 2. Sell “AI Vendors/ Services” (External)- ( Full service AI brokers, Remagining BPO, New stuff that couldn’t exist under one roof without AI)

Thanks for the insight John. Some thoughts of mine on your thoughts: 1). On Apple: the fact they're outsourcing AI to OpenAI seems like a short term fix, perhaps at the expense of long term internal development. Is this a sign of Apple's deceleration in product/technology development or a wise strategic move to buy them time until they create their own, in house AI product? I'm torn. 2). On AI Chips: I'd love to hear a historical parallel on an example that's similar to AI Chip race. It feels like moore's law (squared) right now. 3). On AI Agents & startups: I can be convinced that we might be entering an era of startups that will forever be different than what we've historically seen: Small, 2-10 headcount startups, lots of them moving forward.
