"I'm worried about what France will be like without Emmanuel Macron." I shared this thought, among many others around tech and entrepreneurship, with Aurélie Pasquier of Maddyness at #VivaTech last month. If you can’t read French, here are the key takeaways from our conversation: A decade ago, France was one of the worst places in Europe to do business. Now, France is the country that’s leading technology innovation and economic growth in Europe. I give full credit to President Macron for this shift and have been honored to serve as the Global Ambassador of the French Tech to help execute his vision of building a #startup nation. I’m placing my bets on France, as well as India, to be the major players in fostering the next generation of the global innovation ecosystem.

I believe your confidence in France and their leadership is misplaced. History backs that up!

Macron is playing a very dangerous game and has led the French people no other option but to go towards the extremes - this is not only a French phenomenon. Unfortunately he is now saying there will be civil war if one of the two leading parties wins in the second round - fear mongering in my opinion. At the end of the day the working class feel left behind and don't feel heard - it was a long time coming and I think he is now trying to create as much fear as possible to hang onto power. Let's see but this trend seems to be picking up steam in the west. There is no simple solution but being able to debate hard issues that have been taboes in the past would be a great place to start and hope that the moderates on the left and right can find a way to unite!

You had mentioned this in 2014 in an All Hands at Cisco India - The global leaders to watch out for were Emmanuel Macron and Narendra Modi! Heartening to see those predictions come true!
