“Matt was an absolute pleasure to work with and gain perspective from. An outstanding leader who understands the objective, cares about his people and is willing to challenge them to learn how to get it done. He has strong ability to create a healthy culture of accountability to accelerate and succeed. Matt is an outside the box thinker and willing to figure things out prior to being directed. Matt would be an outstanding leader, asset to any organization looking for his skill sets and capabilities. ”

Here's how you can effectively handle your boss's expectations and priorities.
Develop a consistent pro-active routine for communication from your end. An effective example from my experience would be: - Send an email each week at a certain day/time that makes sense for your business's rhythm - Bullet point out concisely: what you're working on, where you're at with it, how you're approaching execution and where you expect to be (X to Y by Z)

Here's how you can navigate a boss who plays favorites among employees.
Your boss is playing favorites and you're not one of them? Good. It's the perfect opportunity to produce results that speak for themselves. You'll have the ideal benchmark for your performance to see when the sun starts shining on you after strong results. If you produce strong, best in class results and are still being suffocated by internal politics from your boss, good. Now you know it's time to find a better boss and not waste anymore time.

Here's how you can navigate a difficult or demanding boss in IT Sales.
Take extreme ownership. If something is called out to you as being lacking, take ownership of it. Whether it's actually your responsibility or not. It instantly deconflicts the situation and gives you the high ground. If your leader is blaming you for their gaps, good. Take ownership of it. Over time your responsibilities, impact on the business and credibility will grow. Having a difficult leader is good.
