Wow. wow. wow. wowowow. It's 2024, right?? My appointment with Dr. Julio Lemus came to an end when he dismissed my LIVED, LEARNED, ACHED, CURSED experience with PMDD, of which I had been diagnosed over a decade ago. I have melasma, insomnia, heavy period, allergy intolerance, BLOATONG, I AM SHOWING YOU THE 20 LBS I GAINED IN 3 MONTHS, I have pictures of all the symptoms down a list; would you like to see it? Sir, do you even know those symptoms, because I don't think you do. In fact, I know you don't, since once I said "ideations" you checked out. WHY DO YOU THINK I AM HERE? Who do you think sent me to a gyno? Why am I shouting? Because I shouldn't have to explain to an OB/GYN the symptoms of PMDD. ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS. You are a disservice to women. It really is comical when you tell someone you experience ideations every month, you give them your list of mental health medication, explain half of it is from Long Covid, ignore that, and they say you should go get that checked out elsewhere. I should be surprised, but I'm not. It's the same thing I see other women post everyday. "I AM NOT LISTENED TO, IT IS NOT ONLY A PYSCHIATRIC ISSUE. EVERYONE THINKS I'M INSANE." No hormone therapy to, I don't know, help me to not have ideations every month because my body is allergic to my endocrine system???? Oh, and I'm really pissed. https://lnkd.in/gPDGaGqp https://lnkd.in/gsHBKnVH https://lnkd.in/gQFnBcxd #believewomen #pmddawareness #whodoyouthinksentmetoagynecologist #dismissed #patronizing

Tomorrow is my birthday... 🥳 And all I want for my birthday... 🎁🎉 𝐈𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐢𝐩, 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬. In return, I'll even give YOU a present! 🎁🤩 If your posts on LinkedIn aren't getting anywhere (maxing out at 100-200 views, and rarely any meaningful interaction), and you are wondering why-- 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮: 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭: Connect with more people! Don't be afraid to add everyone you've ever met. (Except that bully from your old corporate job...you can let that one go) Then connect with people in your industry. Potential clients. And people who just post interesting things. No one is going to think you want something from them, unless you project that. (see number 2) 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝: 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬. If you only come here to get something, that might be the problem. It's like only calling your parents when you need money. You'll find this platform to be a lot more generous if you come here to give first, and then people will start coming to you. 𝘚𝘖 𝘚𝘏𝘈𝘙𝘌 𝘞𝘏𝘈𝘛 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘒𝘕𝘖𝘞. You know something. You have opinions and insights about your industry, about the world. Be generous, and share them! (no, you don't have to post daily, but make it a regular thing) 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝: 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Once you start sharing, people will want to connect with YOU. Say yes. Stop being snobbish about who you accept into your circle. This is a place to widen your horizons and meet new people. (Also, the algorithm really likes people who engage, and it rewards you for accepting quickly and not leaving folks hanging in limbo) 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡: 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞. Just like any public space, there will be some jerks. If someone is rude or abusive, or if you connect with someone and they send you an immediate pitch, feel free to just disconnect or block them and move on. Do not feed the trolls! This platform is an amazing place if you use it well. 😎 𝑩𝒐𝒏𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒊𝒑𝒔: -𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐦! Google search "2024 LinkedIn algorithm infographic" for the latest tips on getting the most from each post. Even just knowing the basics of when to post, how many hashtags to use, etc is SUPER helpful! -𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: LinkedIn Learning is great, and if you are in the entertainment industry in ANY WAY, you can take advantage of all of the free classes and resources offered by the Entertainment Community Fund, including classes on how to use LinkedIn better. Hope this helps! ⮕ What's your best tip for getting engagement on LI? (Besides capitalizing on your birthday? 😉) #linkedintips #thecreativelife #socialmedia #networking Pic: Me and my bff Katie Willer from a birthday past

Black Men Love: Self-Care, Grooming & Beyond. Celebrating Black Love & Self-Care: A Grooming Routine for Kings We're thrilled that our short film "Black Men Love" – a branded awareness project created for Shea Moisture Men in Los Angeles California with Durable Goods – has won a 2024 Webby Award for Corporate Social Responsibility. "Black Men Love" celebrates the importance of self-care for Black men. After all, taking care of yourself isn't just about looking good, it's about feeling good too. Self-care isn't just bubble baths and face masks (although those can be great too!). It's about taking intentional steps to nurture your mind, body, and spirit. So, in the spirit of self-love and self-care, we've put together a simple yet effective grooming routine for Black men, Here are some tips to get you started! Here's a basic men's grooming routine for Black men to get you started: 1. Conquer the Cleanse: Wash your face twice daily with a gentle cleanser designed for your skin type. Black men are prone to razor bumps and dryness, so opt for fragrance-free and oil-controlling formulas. 2. Exfoliate for Brighter Skin: Exfoliate 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. Look for products with salicylic acid or glycolic acid, which are effective for Black skin. 3. Moisturize, Don't Ignore: Combat dryness with a daily moisturizer. Shea butter, coconut oil, and jojoba oil are great options for Black skin. 4. Tame that Mane (or Beard): Whether rocking a fade, waves, or a beard, prioritize hair and beard care. Use a beard oil or leave-in conditioner specifically formulated for Black men's hair. 5. Don't Forget the SPF: Sun protection is essential for everyone, regardless of skin tone. Choose a lightweight, broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher to shield your skin from harmful UV rays. Beyond the Basics: Find a Signature Scent: A cologne or body spray can boost your confidence. Opt for woodsy or musky scents that complement your natural aroma. Take Care of Your Lips: Dry, chapped lips are a no-go. Keep a lip balm handy for on-the-go hydration. Invest in Quality Tools: A good razor, shaving cream, and beard trimmer will make your grooming routine smoother (literally!). Remember, self-care is a journey, not a destination. Experiment, find what works for you, and most importantly, embrace your unique handsomeness kings <3.

The Risks of Voicing Your Own Commercials: A Cautionary Perspective Crafting a compelling commercial is vital for brand recognition, but voicing it yourself can pose challenges. Here's why: 1. Lack of Professionalism: Unless you're trained in voice acting or broadcasting, your delivery may lack polish, risking credibility. 2. Limited Vocal Range: Professional voice actors can adapt to different tones and characters, while you might be confined by your vocal abilities, resulting in monotony. 3. Biased Perspective: Over-investment in your brand can make your enthusiasm seem insincere, and you might overlook weaknesses, lacking objectivity. 4. Time and Resources: Creating a professional-quality commercial demands scriptwriting, sound engineering, and editing, consuming valuable resources and time. 5. Missed Opportunities: By voicing your own commercials, you might miss collaborating with professionals who bring fresh ideas and access to better production facilities. In conclusion, while voicing your own commercials might seem appealing, it's crucial to consider the risks. Investing in professional voice talent and production services can enhance brand perception and drive better results. Remember, professionalism and effectiveness should always be top priorities in advertising.

When you promote your podcast, tell people what it’s about! As a former three-time Emmy nominated TV news producer and reporter I find this baffling. Many posts from attorneys and business folks say, “I was on a podcast!” And the podcast episode only says their name and that of the host with little to no indication of their credentials or what they talked about. So what’s more interesting to random people? “(Name of someone you don’t know) was on a podcast!” Or: “Who’s liable in a self-driving car crash? - featuring longtime personal injury lawyer (name).” I picked a random subject I’m personally curious about. But you hopefully get the idea. Also, podcasters, stay on topic! Free range opening segments can be great to warm up the guest and audience a bit but have goals, not just an agenda, to dig into what you and your audience likely want to find out. You can have multiple segments in an episode. Pick the most interesting one and use that to promote it. Think about what you would want to know as you formulate questions and produce material. And realize you have to keep it interesting.
