Wow. wow. wow. wowowow. It's 2024, right?? My appointment with Dr. Julio Lemus came to an end when he dismissed my LIVED, LEARNED, ACHED, CURSED experience with PMDD, of which I had been diagnosed over a decade ago. I have melasma, insomnia, heavy period, allergy intolerance, BLOATONG, I AM SHOWING YOU THE 20 LBS I GAINED IN 3 MONTHS, I have pictures of all the symptoms down a list; would you like to see it? Sir, do you even know those symptoms, because I don't think you do. In fact, I know you don't, since once I said "ideations" you checked out. Yep. I should go back to my UCLA Psychiatrist who's moving to NYU for a faculty position. She can't possibly know more about this than you. WHY DO YOU THINK I AM HERE? Who do you think told me to go to a gyno? Why am I shouting? Because I shouldn't have to explain to an OB/GYN the symptoms of PMDD. ALL OF THE SYMPTOMS. You are a disservice to women. It really is comical when you tell someone you're having "ideations" every month, you give them your list of mental health medication, explain half of our is from Long Covid, ignore that, and they say you should go get that checked out elsewhere. I should be surprised, but I'm not. It's the same thing I see other women post everyday. I AM NOT LISTENED TO, IT IS NOT ONLY A PYSCHIATRIC ISSUE. No hormone therapy to, I don't know, help me to not have ideations every month because my body is allergic to my endocrine system???? Why use L-5-MTHF in #MenopausalWomen with multiple sclerosis? Menopause, defined as the permanent cessation of ovarian function, represents a period of significant fluctuation in sex hormone concentrations. Sex hormones including oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone and anti-Mullerian hormone are thought have neuroinflammatory effects and are implicated in both neuroprotection and neurodegeneration. Sex hormones have a role in modifying clinical trajectory in #MultipleSclerosis (#MS) throughout the lifespan. Low levels of estrogens after menopause stimulate pro-inflammatory pathways and enhance proinflammatory cytokine production, whereas high levels can boost Th-2 anti-inflammatory pathways and humoral immunity. Linking the human menopause to multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a relatively common chronic neurological disorder in which demyelination of axons of neurons occurs in different areas of the central nervous system. The risk of the disease is 3–4 times more in females compared to males. What can we do to improve health and health care of menopausal women? There is a possible link between the onset of the first neurological signs of MS and serum levels of vitamin B12 and folate of the patient at the time. Increasing the consumption of folate and vitamin B12 improved physical and mental dimensions of quality of life.  Scientists have noted an inverse association between unmetabolized folic acid in plasma and NK cell cytotoxicity, suggesting that free folic acid may negatively impact immune function. So using L-5-MTHF as a folate supplement appears to be a better option for menopausal women. L-5-MTHF is the main biologically active form of folate. Unmetabolized serum folic acid does not arise after consumption of naturally occurring #folate. 🧠 Anencephaly Awareness Day 🧠 🧠Anencephaly (pronounced an-en-sef-uh-lee) is a serious birth defect in which a baby is born without parts of the brain & skull. 😪Anencephaly is a fatal condition. 🧠Anencephaly is when the neural tube fails to close at the base of the skull. Neural tube defects may be caused by genes passed on from both parents, be a fluke or by environmental factors. Some of these factors include obesity, uncontrolled diabetes in the mother, & some prescription medicines. 💫Our 1lb. 9oz., 11in. daughter Jordan Marie's condition was determined at the time ~ June 28th, 1993 ~ to not be caused by genetics, diabetes, prescription medications(I wasn’t taking anything except Materna vitamins), or my obesity because I wasn't at the time. I was eating well buuut taking fully methylated vitamins would have made a difference in my body absorbing those nutrients easier. 🧠Most babies with anencephaly pass away before birth & the pregnancy ends in miscarriage. Babies born with anencephaly die within a few hours, days or weeks. Infants who survive at birth may seem to respond to touch or sound, but these responses are involuntary. 🕰Jordan Marie lived for 45 minutes in our arms that seemed to go simultaneously fast & slow. It happens when there is an imbalance between removing the fluid from the blood vessels and removing the fluid into the lymphatic or circulatory systems. The accumulation of fluids causes damaged tissues to enlarge. Edema can develop in a variety of body regions, including legs, ankles, feet, hands, face, and abdomen. Even severe symptoms may be considered “normal” if a mother has lived with similar for many years. Please don’t wait for your daughter’s symptoms to become worse than your own before seeing a Gynae. 🏵️ Excessive use of pain killers can cause bleeding stomach ulcers, and damage to the liver and kidneys. Pain clinics or pain specialists can assist with improving pain control safely. 🏵️ The risk of ovarian, breast and thyroid cancer are increased in those with endometriosis. Screening and monitoring can improve early detection. 🏵️ Infertility and early menopause rates are increased with endometriosis. It is important to have early discussions with your Gynae about fertility preservation options like egg freezing and menopausal optimisation 🏵️ Severe endometriosis (stage 4) can have ongoing effects after menopause. Oestrogen-only HRT is not suitable in these women, but combined HRT can be safely used. Don't delay - contact us if you suspect you might be suffering from endometriosis. 📚 We're very excited to share our latest work published on updating reference intervals for serum ferritin! 🎉   Our study tackles the inconsistency in ferritin reference ranges across labs, particularly for postmenopausal women. 🧬 Autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis (RA), multiple sclerosis (MS), and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) disproportionately affect women, who make up 80% of those diagnosed. These conditions cause the immune system to attack the body's own tissues, leading to fluctuating and hard-to-diagnose symptoms. Could hormones impact autoimmunity? ⚫Estrogen levels may impact autoimmune diseases, with significant hormonal shifts during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause affecting the immune response. ⚫Estriol may aid in repairing nerve damage and reducing inflammation associated with MS. ⚫Estrogen deficiency during perimenopause can worsen RA symptoms, but hormone therapy has shown promise in improving bone density and disease progression. ⚫Studies suggest Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) may reduce flares and improve daily functioning in women with SLE. 🔬 While hormone therapy isn't a definitive cure, it offers potential benefits in managing symptoms and slowing disease progression.
