Are you avoiding the deadlift because you have lower back pain?
The deadlift is a great exercise for almost every muscle in the body (especially for those with lower back pain).
Why?
When done correctly, your spine becomes much stronger due to the load you progressively place on it.
Emphasizing proper positioning during the lift, effective activation during the warmup, and mobility exercises reduce the chance of injury.
Remember this- If you stop moving, you lose muscle mass, bone mass, fat loss/metabolism slows, etc.
If you want to be independent as you age, do yourself a favor and keep deadlifting.
