A total of $338 million for Hardware. This is up 56% from 2022. For video game content, there was a total of $3,622 billion, up 9% from from 2022. For Accessories, there was a total of $159 million, up 14% from 2022.

In terms of hardware, the Switch was the best-selling platform in both dollar and units. It achieved an all-time high in spending for the platform with the units falling short of only May 2020. The Playstation 5 achieve second by both standards and maintains being the best selling platform the year. Xbox Series takes third.

In terms of software, sales were driven by the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which instantly became the second best-selling game of the year with only physical sales. Sales of the game also drove sales of the original, which jumped in position from 28 to 13 this month. Hogwarts Legacy sales also increased this month with the release of the Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions. Mobile spend trends in May were down by only 2% compared to April. Honkai Star Rail is a notable title in that it launched slightly before the tracking period.
