Fire Emblem is a strategy role-playing game franchise developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. The first game released in 1990 on the Nintendo Famicom (Nintendo Entertainment System). The games revolve around tactical movement of sword-wielding characters across grid-based environments. The series was Japan exclusive until 2003 when the series came to the West with the release of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. Due to poor sales of the series, Fire Emblem Awakening was conceived as the final installment of the franchise. As a result of the record-breaking sales of the game and widespread critical acclaim, the series was allowed to continue.[1]

As of May 2023, the Fire Emblem series has sold over 20 million copies worldwide for Nintendo consoles, making it the best-selling strategy RPG franchise. In addition, Fire Emblem Heroes has shifted over 17 million mobile downloads and grossed over $1 billion in revenue, making it Nintendo's highest-grossing mobile game.
