"The court of Jedi Affairs stands now in session, the honorable Arabelle Lorteli presiding. Be seated and be quiet."
―A court sergeant announces Zoolli Judge Loteli[1]

The Zoolli were a sentient humanoid species, distinguished from Humans by their longer noses. Judge Arabelle Lorteli was a Zoolli member of the Galactic Alliance judiciary. She was personally appointed by Chief of State Natasi Daala to the Court of Jedi Affairs; however, the Chief of State later publicly removed her from that post after allegations that the Zoolli had been mind tricked by members of the Jedi Order.

Biology and appearance[]

The Zoolli were a sentient species of humanoid physique. They appeared remarkably like members of the Human species, with the exception of exhibiting thinner, longer noses. The Zoolli Arabelle Lorteli had blue colored hair, arching eyebrows, and a wide-lipped mouth. She spoke in a pinched, nasal voice.[1]

History[]

The Zoolli were established in the galaxy by 43 ABY. In that year, the Zoolli Arabelle Lorteli was personally selected by Galactic Alliance Chief of State Natasi Daala to serve as a judge on the Court of Jedi Affairs. In that role, she presided over the arraignment of former-Jedi Knight and bounty hunter Tahiri Veila before the court, and denied Veila legal representation by Twi'lek counselor Nawara Ven on the grounds of a conflict of interest with the Jedi Order. Judge Lorteli later signed a writ for members of the Jedi Order providing them permission to visit Valin Horn and Jysella Horn who were being held in an Alliance prison. When made aware of this writ, Daala insinuated that the Jedi used a mind trick on the Zoolli to obtain the writ.[1] Following this incident, the Chief of State publicly removed Judge Lorteli from her position.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The Zoolli were created by author Troy Denning for his novel Fate of the Jedi: Abyss, published by Del Rey in 2009 as book three in the Fate of the Jedi series. The Zoolli character Arabelle Lorteli is also mentioned in the fifth novel in the series, Fate of the Jedi: Allies, but does not make an appearance.
