Wroshyr sap (locally known as "tree blood") that circulated in wroshyr trees was an important resource on the planet Kashyyyk. Through distillation, the native Wookiees could transform it into a slightly sweet-tasting sapwater, which they preferred to rainwater. Distilled wroshyr sap was also used in conjunction with wroshyr leaves to produce chemicals and oils.^[2]

After the Galactic Empire took hold of Kashyyyk, they too started refining wroshyr sap to distill a volatile chemical compound at an Imperial Refinery. This was done in an environmentally destructive way. It was estimated that for every barrel of sap that was refined, more than 200 metric tons of industrial waste were dumped into watercourses near the facility.^[1]
