The Trindellan oak grew on the Outer Rim Territories moon Trindello. The gigantic oaks shared a root system and had a very hard dark green wood. Kargul worms laired in Trindellan oak clusters, and several parties carried out logging operations to harvest the oaks' wood for use in construction throughout Trindello's sector.

Biology and appearance[]

The Trindellan oak was a type of gigantic oak tree that grew on Trindello, a small, cool moon[1] located in the Trindello system of the Outer Rim Territories' Moddell sector.[2] Trindellan oaks had a shared root system, and what appeared to be free-standing trees were in fact merely fast-growing shoots of it. The wood obtained from Trindellan oaks was dark green and nearly as hard as iron. The oaks grew in clusters that covered their homeworld, and kargul, burrowing worms that could reach eighty meters in length, laired at the center of the clusters.[1]

History[]

The Moddell sector corporation Tripartite Lines, as well as affluent businessbeings from the planets Annaj and Maya Kovel, financed Trindellan oak logging operations run by Human and Vashan cutters. Although scientists issued warnings that not enough information was available on the trees to ensure that they were not overharvested, the trade was lucrative enough for the logging parties to ignore those concerns. By the time of the Yuuzhan Vong War,[1] which lasted from 25 ABY to 29 ABY,[2] several parties of the Trindellan oak harvesters had come into conflict with kargul.[1]

Trindellan oaks in the galaxy[]

The hardness of the Trindellan oak wood rendered it commonly used in construction throughout the Moddell sector. Large platforms made out of the trees were built atop freshwater vents across the ocean-covered planet Thonner, thus forming the world's first settlements in 25 BBY.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Kargul

Chris Trevas's illustration of a kargul in a Trindellan oak cluster

The Trindellan oak was first mentioned in the article "Endor and the Moddell Sector," which was published in the ninth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine[1] on February 22, 2002.[3] Chris Trevas also depicted a cluster of Trindellan oaks in an illustration of a kargul meant for inclusion in[4] the 2004 Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Roleplaying Game sourcebook Ultimate Adversaries, but the creature was ultimately not featured in the book.[5] The illustration depicted an agitated kargul emerging from underground at a Trindellan oak logging site, although the trees' wood was tan-colored[4] as opposed to dark green as established in "Endor and the Moddell Sector."[1]
