For other uses, see Torch (disambiguation).

Torch was the astromech droid companion of rebel pilot and later Resistance pilot Venisa Doza. He accompanied her on many missions, including to the worlds Bakura and Lehon.[1] During one of the initial training sessions that Venisa gave her daughter, Torra, as a starfighter pilot, Torra ejected Torch from his astromech socket. Torch was good friends with Jarek Yeager's astromech, Bucket.[3]

When Torch and Venisa were captured along with their X-wing by Agent Tierny of the First Order, the droid pretended to have been fried and rendered inoperable in order to assist in Doza's escape from the agent's Resurgent-class Star Destroyer, the Thunderer, piloting a TIE/fo space superiority fighter out of the capital ship's main hangar as a diversion before ejecting from it with his rocket boosters to rejoin Venisa on her X-wing.[1]

With their X-wing, the pair later participated in running the blockade of Dantooine[3] and rescuing Tamara Ryvora as part of Jade Squadron.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

Torch first appeared in the Star Wars Resistance episode "Rendezvous Point."[1] In the episode's original outline, the astromech's name was "Scorch," but it was later changed to "Torch." Along with Doza's X-wing, Torch was designed to look as though Doza had owned him since the period of the Original Trilogy, as she'd been a fighter pilot from a young age.[5]
