Biography[]
- "I cannot ride a bike."
- ―Tom Hoeler, musing on his wish to be cited in his own Wookieepedia article
As a graduate student, Tom Hoeler worked for Del Rey as a summer intern. During that time, he helped contribute to The Essential Reader's Companion by creating reference material for artists to use while drawing characters who had not been depicted before. While there, he also helped create a poster for Celebration VI featuring many Star Wars novels. Hoeler was hired Del Rey for a full-time position in 2014 and has since been involved with the creation of most novels published by the imprint and later Random House Worlds, alongside the same team.[2]
Hoeler worked on author Chuck Wendig's 2017 novel Aftermath: Empire's End, for which he wrote several Huttese and proto-Huttese phrases.[5] The first Star Wars novel he read was I, Jedi.[2]
