A therii was a large herding creature that could be found on the planet Batuu. Elee was a therii that was the pet of Black Spire Outpost resident Salju.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The therii was introduced in the children's book Elee & Me, written by Amy Ratcliffe and published in 2020.[2] As Elee reminded Ratcliffe of a woolly mammoth, she based the name therii on a mammoth binomial name.[3]
The species itself was created for an unbuilt third attraction for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge often informally referred to as "the Bantha ride", where guests could ride a full-sized animatronic Elee around Black Spire Outpost, a concept which was eventually dropped for budgetary reasons.[4]
