"I think this and Star Wars: Dark Empire were where I really fell for Dorman. My room as a kid was PURE nerdery"
―Taurin Clarke, on Dave Dorman, an early Star Wars influence[4]

Taurin Clarke (born May 19) is an American comic book artist and illustrator. For the Star Wars franchise, Clarke has created variant covers for a variety of Marvel Comics series including the 2021 series Star Wars: The High Republic and a collection of covers tying into the 2022 one-shot comic Revelations (2022) 1.

Biography[]

Taurin Clarke, born May 19[1] in Brooklyn, New York, United States, is an American[2] comic book artist[3] and illustrator.[2] Growing up,[4] Star Wars: Dark Empire cover artist Dave Dorman[5] was a major influence on him.[4]

For the Star Wars franchise, Clarke first illustrated a variant cover with colorist Jesus Aburtov for the second issue of[3] the 2021 Marvel Comics series Star Wars: The High Republic.[6] The variant, sold exclusively at Golden Apple Comics, depicts Jedi Knight Keeve Trennis facing a gang of Nihil raiders. On January 18, 2021, ahead of the issue's release, Clarke revealed a grayscale version of the variant cover.[3] While illustrating the cover, he listened to the Finale track from the soundtrack of[7] the 1980 film[8] Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back extensively.[7]

Clarke continued to contribute cover art for Star Wars comics in 2022 with five variant covers tying into the[9] one-shot comic[10] Revelations (2022) 1. The covers were created for[9] the 2020 series[11][12][13] Star Wars, Star Wars: Bounty Hunters, Star Wars: Darth Vader, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, and the[9] 2022 miniseries[14] Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca.[9]
