"Are you sure she's ready?"
"Nak-il, it is custom."

―Nak-il and Pav-ti discuss the prospect of Ahsoka's ritual hunt[1]

The Tano family were a Togruta family from the planet Shili.[1] The most prominent member of the family was Ahsoka Tano, a Force-sensitive female who was taken by Jedi Master Plo Koon to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant at a young age to be trained in the ways of the Force as a Jedi.[9] Tano would go on to become the Jedi Padawan of the prophesized Chosen One, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, during the galaxy-wide conflict known as the Clone Wars.[2] She served as a Jedi Commander in the 501st Legion of the Grand Army of the Republic during the war and fought in many conflicts until she left the Jedi Order after being wrongly accused of the bombing of the Jedi Temple.[10] Tano would later be instrumental in forming a network of multiple rebel cells against the Galactic Empire.[11]

Ahsoka Tano's parents were Pav-ti Tano and Nak-il Tano. Pav-ti, Tano's mother, was a believer in traditional Togruta custom, taking her infant daughter on a ritual hunt in Shili's forests. Tano's father, Nak-il, believed that these customs were old fashioned however.[1]
