Kalevala is not Mandalore, just in the Mandalore system
Wow that butchered my format... basically it was a list of planets and list Mandalore as a a separate planet. —Unsigned comment by 208.118.28.190 (talk • contribs).
- Hi, 208.118.28.190, I've reformatted your above data into a table. -Mardus (talk) 05:46, July 13, 2019 (UTC)
Kalevala Day[]
I think it's worth mentioning that the episode this planet first appeared in was released just day after the Finnish culture day known as "Kalevala Day". --Stardust178 (talk) 12:27, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
Etymology[]
I don't know if it's been mentioned anywhere, but is it possible the name "Kalevala" comes from the Mondo'a language developed by Karen Traviss? I know that the language is probably largely considered Legends by now, but look through the old dictionary yields some good information. "Kal" means "blade" and "evaar'la" means "young, new". "Kal evaar'la" would reasonably be shortened to "Kalevala" and roughly translate in Mando-a as "New Blade". Would be a fitting name for a planet that Mandalorians colonized.
This might just have to stay in the realm of fan conjecture I guess, unless some sort of official source or reference can be found. —Unsigned comment by 104.129.204.79 (talk • contribs).
