The Taanab Sunrise was a Victory-class Star Destroyer that was part of the New Republic's Defense Fleet as of 25 ABY. That year, as part of the Yuuzhan Vong War, it fought Yuuzhan Vong forces over the Outer Rim planet Garqi. There, it was severely damaged as it provided the New Republic forces with the time to extract intelligence operatives off Garqi, and was only saved thanks to the intervention of the Imperial Remnant Star Destroyer Red Harvest.

The Taanab Sunrise was a Victory-class Star Destroyer[1] measuring 900 meters in length.[2] It was armed with turbolaser cannons and concussion missiles, and had both a deflector shield generator and a hyperdrive enabled.[1]
History[]
The Taanab Sunrise was part of the New Republic's Defense Fleet[1] in the year 25 ABY,[3] and was named after Taanab,[1] an agriworld.[4] The ship participated in a New Republic strike to extract intelligence operatives off the Yuuzhan Vong–occupied[1] Outer Rim[5] planet of Garqi that year during the Yuuzhan Vong War, fought mainly between the New Republic and the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong. Arriving later in the battle over Garqi to reinforce the Ralroost, a Bothan Assault Cruiser, in retrieving the operatives from the planet via the shuttle Best Chance, the Taanab Sunrise and another Victory-class attacked the Yuuzhan Vong capital ships, led by the invaders' cruiser Burning Pride.[1]
The purpose of the pair of Victory-class cruisers was to buy time for the operatives to board the Ralroost. However, the Taanab Sunrise was targeted by the majority of the enemy ships, and its shields collapsed under the Yuuzhan Vong's fire. Just then, a strike force led by the Imperial Remnant's Admiral Gilad Pellaeon arrived in the star system to assist the New Republic forces. The Imperial Star Destroyer Red Harvest put itself between the Taanab Sunrise, whose hull was severely damaged, and the enemy to save the ship by taking their fire instead. The New Republic and Imperial Remnant forces then withdrew as the operatives made it to the Ralroost.[1]
