Steelious was a Core Worlds planet that was located near the world Yarrv. The Hervack Spaceport on Steelious served as an important port for Rebel Alliance smuggling. Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, diplomats from Steelious traveled to Yarrv in order to negotiate a trade agreement with the latter planet's ruling royal family. Yarrv's Baron Karin, in the hopes of subjugating Steelious, planned to assassinate the diplomats, causing a war between the two planets that would benefit the military conglomerate owned by the baron.

Description[]

Steelious was a terrestrial planet[2] located in the Steelious system, a part of the Southern Core portion of the Core Worlds.[1] It was situated near the planet Yarrv.[2]

History[]

During the Galactic Civil War, Baron Karin[2] of Yarrv's Darpheos city-state hoped to become that planet's king and subjugate Steelious through war.[3] Another reason why Karin wished to initiate armed conflict between Yarrv and Steelious was because he controlled a large military conglomerate that would gain profit as a result of the war.[2]

A group of diplomats from Steelious traveled to Yarrv on a diplomatic starship[2] shortly after the Battle of Yavin[3] in order to open trade negotiations with the ruling royal family of Yarrv. The proposed trade agreement would limit Karin's power, and to prevent it from being signed, the baron plotted to have both the diplomats and the reigning king of Yarrv assassinated. Karin further planned to redirect the blame for the assassination toward a radical group on Steelious, which would likely cause a war to erupt between the two planets.[2]

Locations[]

Customs were notoriously lax on Steelious during the Galactic Civil War. As a result, smuggling goods to and from the planet was easy, and the Hervack Spaceport on Steelious served as an important port in the planet's sector for goods illegally transported by the Rebel Alliance.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Steelious was created by Bill Olmesdahl for "The Royal Family," a roleplaying adventure hook published in the 1992 supplement Star Wars Gamemaster Screen for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Steelious system, and therefore Steelious itself, in grid square K-13.[1]
