For other uses, see Shallow and March (disambiguation).

Shallow March was an Outer Rim Territories planet situated in the Mortex sector. It hosted the Shallow March Supply Post of the Galactic Empire, with the facility being under the command of Major Tarn Innis beginning around 4 BBY. At one point, Innis, who supplied military units of both the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, fended off the planet's predators via the use of grenades while providing supplies for the Alliance officer Airen Cracken.

Description[]

Shallow March[5] was a backwater planet[4] located in the Shallow March system, a part of the Mortex sector[1] in the Trans-Hydian portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] Its fauna included a type of predator.[4]

History[]

Tarn Innis

Shallow March was the site of a Galactic Empire supply post under the command of Major Tarn Innis.

The Galactic Empire's Supply Branch maintained the Shallow March Supply Post at the planet.[4] Around 4 BBY,[6] command of the facility was given to the Human Imperial Army major Tarn Innis, who retained the post for the subsequent four years. Innis supplied any military units passing through the area of space Shallow March was located in, and he also provided supplies and parts to the Rebel Alliance and Rebel-affiliated pirates and smugglers.[4]

At one point, Alliance General Airen Cracken visited the Shallow March Supply Post, where Innis's staff loaded gear needed by Cracken's unit. The Rebel officer conversed with Innis, with the Imperial supply officer using grenades to fend off some of the planet's local predators that had approached the two. Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Cracken noted Innis's service on Shallow March in an entry dedicated to the Imperial that was part of a datafile detailing various Rebel operatives.[4]

Behind the scenes[]

The planet that hosted the Shallow March Supply Post was created by Sean Fannon and was introduced in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a 1994 West End Games sourcebook published for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[4] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Shallow March system, and therefore the planet, in grid square S-5.[3] Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, has stated that the star systems listed in the book's Appendix section are named after the most prominent planets or celestial bodies located in those systems. This article therefore considers the planet to be named in accordance with the Shallow March system.[5]
