Shahkir was a celestial body located within the Inner Rim Territories, in grid square M-14 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It was the homeworld of[3] the sentient Shahkirin species.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Shahkir was mentioned on a map[1] created for the reference book Star Wars: Timelines and given out as a promotional poster at Celebration Anaheim[4] on May 27, 2022[5] prior to the book's release during Celebration Europe[6] of April 7 through 10, 2023.[7]

The Essential Atlas and Galactic Cartography: Official Discussion on the Jedi Council Forums (Literature board; posted by jasonfry on December 11, 2007 at 7:59 AM; accessed February 2, 2024): "I wouldn't get your hopes up re alien homeworlds, beyond simple stuff like the Planetnamian species getting a Planetnamia on the map or things Dan and I can account for with a relatively quick reference." (backup link) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and Star Wars Galaxy Map, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. This article treats Shahkir as one such homeworld with regard to the Shahkirin species.
