Shaak steak was a dish that was served in the officer's mess hall on the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Avenger. The human garbage collector Carl Ashon ordered a well done shaak steak after entering the officer's mess as Avenger chased the Millennium Falcon.[1]
In 34 ABY,[2] the First Order Lieutenant Wulfgar Kath interrogated the Resistance spy Vi Moradi, whom he held a grudge against, by beating her. She refused to give up information and taunted him with the suggestion that he could get a promotion by delivering her to General Armitage Hux as if she was a shaak steak Hux could sink his teeth into.[3]

Shaak steak was first mentioned in the 2019 novel Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire, which was written by Delilah S. Dawson.[3] In the 2022 non-canon video game LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, a human civilian in Theed, the capital city of the planet Naboo, will complain to the player that Shaak steak tastes terrible and that they would rather eat a balloon.[4]
