"Those things give me the creeps."
―Cal Kestis[1]

Saava were snake-like parasitic carnivorous plants native to the planet Kashyyyk.

Biology and appearance[]

Saava were parasitic, flesh-eating plants with red, flower-like heads and long vines. The skin on the vines was highly resistant to breakage, even from the blade of a lightsaber. Saava plants would slowly creep towards their prey, by extending their vines, until they were within reach of their target; they would quickly retract if they sensed potential danger (despite their incredible stamina and physical durability). Upon contact with their desired host, they would latch onto and attach themselves to their still-living prey, whom could supply them with nutrients for months or even years.[1]

History[]

In 14 BBY,[2] during their mission to Kashyyyk, Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis and BD-1 encountered saava while travelling through the Kashyyykian Shadowlands in his search for Tarrful. He managed to ward them off with his lightsaber.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Saava appeared in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.[1]
