The S-43 enforcer droid was a model of battle droid and enforcer droid developed by the Hutt Clan around the time of the Clone Wars. Based off of stolen battle droid plans from the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the S-43 was utilized by the Hutts in order to maintain their possessions as well as claim additional territory they were able to manage. During their service, they saw regular deployment from the Hutt Clan against underworld lowlifes and negligent debtors.

Characteristics[]

A fourth class[2] model of battle droid and enforcer droid developed by the Hutt Clan, the S-43 enforcer droid was more fragile than the B1-series battle droid utilized by the Confederacy of Independent Systems as a result of a lack of reinforcement to their chassis. They were, however, equipped with several upgraded processors that were designed to assist them in dealing with trickery and deception commonly incorporated in their operations. In order to prevent itself from being disarmed, the S-43 was also armed with a blaster carbine as well as integrated vibroblade.[1]

History[]

CIS roundel

The S-43 enforcer droid was initially intended for use by the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Around the time of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems, the confederate government had developed several battle droid plans for their military forces. However, amid a period of growing galactic instability, a small consortium of Hutts had begun development of their own enforcer droids in order to maintain their possessions as well as assist in seizing additional territory where they were able to manage. As a result, the Hutts constructed the S-43 enforcer droid based off of the Confederacy's stolen battle droid plans, but the droid instead underwent several adjustments in order to better accommodate the interests of their manufacturers.[1]

After its development, the enforcer droid saw regular deployment against underworld lowlifes and negligent debtors but was skimped of reinforcement to its chassis by the Hutts due to their consideration of unnecessary costs for such an action. Even given their attempts to retain costs where available, the consortium's enforcer droid project was viewed as a considerable investment for their organization. However, the consortium already began its payment of dividends, for orders for the S-43 enforcer droid and other enforcer droid models surged from crime lords across the galaxy.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The S-43 enforcer droid was mentioned in Rise of the Separatists, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1]
