"The alarm went off—I turned to my window, and I saw someone there—"
―Princess Fanry, in the royal chamber — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]

The royal chamber was located in the Pijali monarchy's palace on the Inner Rim planet Pijal, one corridor away from the regent's quarters that housed the world's serving lord regent. In 40 BBY, the Pijali Princess Fanry devised a fake assassination attempt on herself in the royal chamber by instructing her slave, Cady, to plant a slicer dart in a nearby windowsill. The Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Rael Averross believed the attack to be legitimate when the attendant presented the dart to them. The incident unsettled the royal guard captain Deren, who had been responsible for verifying the security of the rooms.

Description[]

As a part of the Pijali palace on the Inner Rim planet Pijal, the royal chamber included a doorway, windowsill, bed, and alarm system. The rooms were one corridor away from the palace's regent's quarters, which were designated by the Pijali monarchy as accommodations for the serving lord regent of the planet.[1]

History[]

"What did they want to do? Make me go mad, just before the ceremony?"
"They could've been aiming at me, Your Serene Highness. Hoping I'd assassinate you."
―Fanry and Cady, after the attack in the royal chamber — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]

At some point during the Republic Era, the Pijali Princess Fanry moved into the royal chamber upon becoming the crown princess of Pijal.[1] In 40 BBY,[2] the royal guard captain Deren used his astromech droid to survey the royal chamber and ensure its security. After reviewing the droid's sentry data and making a perimeter sweep of the area, Deren felt the rooms were safe for the princess to reside in. Secretly, Fanry devised a fake assassination attempt on herself to frame the Opposition performance troupe for violence against the monarchy as part of a revolutionary scheme, planning for the incident to occur in the royal chamber. Fanry's enslaved attendant, Cady, acquired nanotechnology weaponry in the form of a slicer dart, which she planted in the quarters' windowsill.[1]

Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi rushed to the royal chamber after hearing Fanry's screams.

Following several violent attacks framed on the Opposition, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi had been sent to Pijal to protect Fanry at the request of the world's Jedi lord regent, Rael Averross. When the royal chamber's alarms were set off, Fanry screamed, prompting Jinn, Kenobi, and Averross to leave the nearby regent's quarters and rush to her aid. When asked, Cady presented the slicer dart to the Jedi, claiming she found it stuck in one of the room's windowsills.[1]

After the attack, Deren was questioned about the security breach and felt extremely guilty for not checking the chamber more thoroughly. Days later, Cady admitted to helping Fanry stage the assassination attempt on herself in the rooms while under orders from the ruler. After helping with the chamber attack, the royal attendant felt that Fanry only cared about personal power and chose to betray the princess after her coronation when she refused to free Pijal's slaves.[1]
