Rentaxius VIII,[2] also known simply as Rentaxius, was an Inner Rim Territories astronomical object situated near the Perlemian Trade Route at the coordinates O-8 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Several weeks after the Battle of Endor[2] in 4 ABY,[3] the New Republic's Alphabet Squadron attempted to intercept and capture an Imperial freighter at Rentaxius VIII that they believed to have been resupplied at the planet Pandem Nai.[2]
Alphabet Squadron surrounded the freighter, and Alphabet Leader Yrica Quell demanded its surrender, with the starship's captain complying before being murdered by his own crew. The Imperial vessel, under a new commander, then opened fire on the squadron. Alphabet Squadron responded, and the pilots Chass na Chadic and Nath Tensent disabled the vessel thereafter, but the RZ-1 A-wing interceptor pilot Wyl Lark accidentally shot its oxygen generator, forcing Alphabet Squadron to evacuate the surviving crew and tow them away in escape pods.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Rentaxius VIII first appeared in 2019's Alphabet Squadron, the first novel in Alexander Freed's Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy.[2] A shortened version of the name was then introduced by a map[1] created for the reference book Star Wars: Timelines and given out as a promotional poster at Celebration Anaheim[4] of May 26 through 29, 2022[5] prior to the book's release during Celebration Europe[6] of April 7 through 10, 2023.[7]
