Pyre's armor was customized set of First Order stormtrooper armor for Commander Pyre within the First Order. The armor was customized to allow more flexibility and coated with an electrum finish for a gold gleam. Pyre used the armor in 34 ABY.

Commander Pyre's armor was a customized version of the standard First Order stormtrooper armor, with a black pauldron on his right shoulder to denote his rank. The armor had an electrum finish that gave it a reflective gold shine. Underneath the armor, Pyre wore a black body glove. The armor was customized to be more flexible, particularly in the boots, and sacrificed protection in the lower torso and upper arm areas. His blaster was keyed to function only with his gloves and featured an electrum finish to match his armor.^[1] The armor made Pyre an unmistakable figure.^[2]

History[]

In 34 ABY,^[3] Pyre wore his armor during his visits to the Colossus refueling station on the^[4] planet^[1] Castilon. The commander wore the armor while hunting down the Teharan orphans Eila and Kel,^[4] to remove evidence of the First Order's Attack on Tehar.^[5] Pyre wore his armor when meeting with the Captain of the Colossus, Imanuel Doza, both via hologram^[6] and in person.^[7]

"Aside from Phasma, we also have the character Pyre, who is her sort of second-in-command. He needed to look unique as well, and we didn't want to stick with a silver theme, so I think it was fun that we brought in the gold. It makes him really distinct from her and the rest of the troopers."

Pyre's armor first appeared in "The Children from Tehar,"^[4] the sixth episode of the first season of the Star Wars Resistance animated television series, which premiered on November 4, 2018.^[9] The armor was first previewed earlier in the year on August 17 in the series's first trailer, which was posted on StarWars.com and the official Disney YouTube channel.^[10] The armor was first identified as "Pyre's dark armor" in the Star Wars Resistance toy line from Hasbro,^[11] which released on January 15, 2019.^[12] October 4 of that year,^[13] the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition identified the armor as "Pyre's armor."^[1]

Lucasfilm Animation artist Amy Beth Christenson completed concept art titled "pyreA" for Pyre and his armor on February 28, 2017. The armor's model was sourced from the model "foTrooperA" with changes to scale, but the details on the gauntlet were sourced from the model "PhasmaA." The armor was designed to have a similar material to "PhasmaA," but purposefully less shine. While his helmet's interior was designed, the helmet was not meant to be removed.^[14]
