Outpost Mix

Outpost Mix was a colorful, grain-based snack food created by Kat Saka and sold at Kat Saka's Kettle, her food stand in Black Spire Outpost on the Outer Rim planet Batuu.^[1] Saka used heirloom seeds from her family farm,^[2] heated them in an antique kettle to pop the grains, then blended them with imported spices that she gathered from other planets.^[3] Her signature seasoning blend created a mix that was salty, spicy, and sweet. Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs could not get Saka to reveal the secrets of her seasoning, but he would often buy bags of Outpost Mix when he was purchasing supplies from Saka.^[2]

Behind the scenes[]

This popcorn snack is found in the real world at Kat Saka's Kettle in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The menu's description reads, "A colorful blend of sweet and spicy flavors."^[4]

The Star Wars: The Bad Batch episode "Battle Scars" featured Outpost Mix in early versions of the script as the snack food eaten by Omega and Wrecker. However, it was changed to Mantell Mix after it was decided that Outpost Mix was exclusive to Batuu, so it made more sense for Ord Mantell to have its own distinct snack food. The final version of Mantell Mix depicted in the episode still strongly resembles Outpost Mix.^[5]
