"When [Greez] said bring seeds, I hope he meant from Dathomir."
―Cal Kestis upon discovering a Mushling seed[1]

The Mushling was plant native to the swamps of the planet Dathomir. In 14 BBY, Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis collected a mushling seed to plant in his crew member Greez Dritus' terrarium aboard their luxury yacht Stinger Mantis.

Description[]

Native to the[1] Outer Rim Territories[2] planet Dathomir,[1] mushlings grew in the swamps of the planet, most notably in the Swamp of Sacrifice. The plant had maroon-colored pods on the tips of each of its branches. The pods were an essential ingredient in the tattoos which defined the Nightsisters, a clan of Dathomirian witches, and the Nightbrothers, a group of warriors under the rule of the Nightsisters. The pods of the mushlings were boiled down into a yellow paste, and then mixed with pigments like clay and ash to create a variety of colors.[1]

History[]

In 14 BBY,[3] Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis and the crew of the luxury yacht Stinger Mantis travelled to Dathomir as part of a mission to rebuild the Jedi Order. Kestis was knocked into the depths of Dathomir by a Nightbrother, and eventually found himself in the Swamp of Sacrifice.[1]

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon.

While in the Swamp of Sacrifice, Kestis found a Mushling seed. The seed was subsequently grown in a terrarium owned by his crew member Greez Dritus. The various seeds Kestis collected were harvested as a form of payment for Dritus' assistance in the crew's mission.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Mushling appeared in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, developed by Respawn Entertainment.[1]
