Queen Apailana wearing mourning beads
Mourning beads were a type of ceremonial beads worn by the Queen of the Naboo when a death was being mourned. They symbolized the tears of the planet Naboo's inhabitants.[1] Queen Apailana notably wore such beads during the funeral of Senator Padmé Amidala[2] in 19 BBY.[3]
